The remaining season of the Pakistan Super League 2021 is to be played in the United Arab Emirates from June 9 to 19. Before the start of the tournament, former South African cricket team captain Faf du Plessis has made a big statement about former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and current captain Babar Azam. He has described Sarfaraz Ahmed as a brilliant captain.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings opener Du Plessis has compared the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed to that of Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli. He said that both are aggressive captains. During the match, both of them always like to talk to the bowlers and players of their team. At the same time, he has described Babar Azam as a great batsman. According to du Plessis, Babar Azam can become a better captain of Pakistan.
Duplessis is a part of Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. Quetta Gladiators are commanded by Sarfaraz Ahmed. Babar Azam is the vice-captain of Karachi Kings. The sixth season of the PSL started on 20 February but had to be postponed to 3 March due to coronavirus cases. Now the remaining matches will be held in UAE from June 9.
Duplessis was in talks with Cricket Pakistan before the rest of the PSL season began. He was asked the question about the similarity in the captaincy of MS Dhoni and Sarfaraz Ahmed. In response, 36-year-old Duplessis said, ‘Sarfaraz and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are both very different. Dhoni is calm and reserve captain.
Du Plessis said, ‘MS does most of the things on the field naturally. Sarfaraz is the exact opposite. He is just like Virat (Kohli). Virat Kohli always keeps talking to players and bowlers. They are always passionate. He shows how to captain the team.
Du Plessis said, ‘Sarfaraz has also been the captain of Pakistan. He has pulled out great results from his players. There is no right or wrong way in this. Just both have different styles. I always like to play with different captains. This gives me an opportunity to know how they discharge their responsibilities.
