Only after the release of the web series ‘Tandav’ is the controversy deepening. Many organizations and BJP leaders are constantly demanding to ban this web series. BJP MP Manoj Kotak had also complained to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar in this regard. Following the complaint, the ministry sent a notice to the officials of Amazon Prime Video on Sunday about the series and sought clarification in this regard. The officials have been asked to reply by Monday i.e. tomorrow.
Let me tell you that BJP MP Manoj Kotak on Sunday requested the Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar to ban the Amazon Prime Video series ‘Tandav’ for making fun of Hindu deities. Kotak wrote a letter to Javadekar in this regard. The web series ‘Tandav’ stars Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Dino Morya, Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Gaur Khan, Kritika Kamra. It premiered on Friday.
Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar is the producer and director of the politics-based drama. It has been written by Gaurav Solanki, who is known for his article 15. Kotak, MP from Mumbai North-East, said that on such a platform, attempts are often not made to show Hindu deities in good terms. Kotak said, ‘Various organizations and people have complained that Hindu deities have been mocked in the’ Tandav ‘web series. (Offensive) remarks have been made about them. ‘
He said, ‘That is why we demand Javadekar Ji to immediately ban this web series. Its actors, producers, and directors should apologize for hurting the sentiments. Kotak shared the picture of the letter to Javadekar on Twitter on Sunday and said, “There is no autonomous body governing digital content right now.” In such a situation, such forums are full of “sex, violence, drugs, hate, and vulgarity”. Sometimes they hurt religious sentiments as well. ‘
In a letter written on 16 January, he said, “It seems that the makers of this series have deliberately made fun of Hindu Goddesses and Goddesses and insulted the religious sentiments of Hindus.” Ram Kadam, another BJP leader and MLA from Ghatkopar West, has also asked the director to remove the part of the web series that has mocked Lord Shiva. He has also filed a complaint in this connection with the Ghatkopar Police Station.
