Theaters are waiting for new films ready to open

Theaters have to open theaters from October 15, following new rules and regulations. There is a lot of trouble in front of the producers of new films and there are very few new films of popular stars. Films currently have Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Kapoor’s ‘Brahmastra’, Prabhudeva’s Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe-Your Most Wanted Bhai’, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmi Bomb’, Ranveer Singh’s 1983 World Cup on Cricket ’83’ , There are films like Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif directed by Rohit Shetty, ‘Suryavanshi’ starring Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgan. ‘Laxmi Bomb’ was announced on November 9 to be released on the OTT platform, but now theaters are going to open. So the eyes of the film industry are on whether Akshay Kumar’s ‘Lakshmi Bomb’ will hit theaters on Diwali or on the OTT platform.

It is expected that Akshay Kumar’s ‘Suryavanshi’ can be released on October 15. Producer Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty, Reliance Entertainment’s ‘Suryavanshi’ is going to be distributed in theaters. Sibashish Sarkar, CEO of the company, says that the opening of the theater has already been announced and it is not easy to take the film to the theater in such a short time. The second big film is Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Kapoor and Alia Bhatt with Karan Johar, ‘Brahmastra’ made by Fox Star Studios, which has been announced for release in December. In such a situation, only small budget films can be screened in theaters opening from October 15, which are ready.

The Maharashtra government has yet to open theaters. The same situation is there in Delhi. When the Mumbai-Delhi cinemas are open to suspicion, which big producer will come forward to do half-and-half business?

Nitin Datar, president of the Association of Cinema Distributors and Exhibitors, is in talks with the state government to open theaters in Maharashtra. Maharashtra’s cultural affairs minister Amit Deshmukh says the state government is the first to protect its citizens amid the epidemic. Despite this, the state government keeps positive thinking to open theaters. Discussions are on between Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Revenue Minister Bala Saheb Thorat to open theaters. The film industry hopes that cinemas will be opened in Maharashtra like other states.

If cinemas do not open in Maharashtra from October 15, it will be a problem for filmmakers. Maharashtra is a major center of the film business and accounts for about a third of the country’s Hindi cinema business. Would the producers want his new film to run in theaters but he did not get about 30 percent of the revenue. And how much business would it be if Delhi’s cinemas do not open as well? The producers are hesitant to release their films on October 15, given the opening of half-finished theaters. That is why producer SR Govindu, who is the president of Karnataka Film Chamber of Comes, says that the producers are thinking of showcasing old films for two-three weeks to understand the business situation and audience mood.

Theaters were closed amid nationwide shutdowns and filmmakers started releasing their films on the OTT platform to reduce losses. Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Gulabo Sitabho’ was the big film that started showing films on the OTT platform. But when the theaters open, the exhibitors will not want the people watching the movie sitting on their TV-mobiles the same day that they are showing in their theaters. If this happens, who will come to theaters?
